Veterinary is a control implementation system of prevention, diagnosis, treatment of animal diseases, measures for their elimination, protection of animal welfare, production, processing, transportation, realization of animal origin products and raw materials, and production of veterinary medicines and veterinary products, feeds, supplements, their import and export, as well as of protection of the territory of the Republic of Armenia from the penetration of zoonotic diseases.
The main tasks of this sector are the treatment of sick animals and the protection of the population from diseases common to humans and animals, the protection of the territory of the state in order to prevent the penetration of infectious diseases of animals from foreign countries.
The veterinary sector also carries out control of the transit of animals, animal origin products and raw materials, supplementary feeds, veterinary medicines, animal products and raw materials, feeds, feed mixtures, supplementary feeds, their further processing, import and export of veterinary medicines, as well as the veterinary-sanitary examination at the points of sale of animal origin products.
