The World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) is one of the oldest and most influential international organizations in the world. It was founded on January 25, 1924, in Paris. Since December 29, 1997 the Republic of Armenia became a full member of WOAH. Currently 182 countries are members of this reputable organization.

Each WOAH member state is represented by its delegate and national coordinators. The WOAH Delegate to the Republic of Armenia is Head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia. There are also 9 WOAH national coordinators for animal welfare, aquatic animal health, long-distance transportation of animal, communication, animal disease notification, veterinary products, safety of animal origin food, wildlife and veterinary laboratories, and ever national coordinator carries out an activity for the mentioned fields.

Each WOAH member country is obliged to submit information immediately or periodically through the WAHIS information system

From 1 to 12 October 2018, an expert mission sent by WOAH carried out an assessment of the capacities of the Veterinary Services (PVS) in the Republic of Armenia.
