Today the Food Safety Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia received a letter from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus addressed to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia stating that during the state sanitary control carried out for the purpose of compliance with the legislation in the sphere of sanitary-epidemiologic well-being of the population in the country a case of circulation of food products not complying with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union was recorded.

In particular, the letter notes that according to the results of laboratory examination of natural semi-sweet low-alcohol pomegranate wine "Ayrum" produced by "Ararat" Cognac Factory Ltd. synthetic dye azorubin (E122) was detected, which is an indicator of signs of possible counterfeiting of this product.

On the basis of the above, the import and circulation of pomegranate wine "Ayrum" of this company on the territory of the Republic of Belarus is temporarily restricted.

However, the letter does not specify in which batch of "Ayrum" pomegranate wine the non-compliance was found, whether other batches were also tested and other professional details.

The Food Safety Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia, having registered this message as a warning, will conduct control measures at "Ararat" Cognac Factory Ltd. to verify the authenticity of the non-compliances presented by Belarus, as well as will request the Belarusian side to clarify some details of the restrictions.

The results will be published additionally by the Inspection Body.
