Today in Yerevan, the three-day National Workshop on Veterinary Workforce Development concluded its activities.
Participants engaged in practical discussions to identify future potential needs of the veterinary workforce, formulated and presented key gaps, needs, capacity development mechanisms, and the roles of various stakeholders involved in veterinary workforce development.
WOAH speakers, expressing their satisfaction with the organization and conduct of the workshop with the highest level of national participation, presented how legislative regulations in the veterinary sector in Armenia can ensure the effective management of the workforce, private sector involvement, the provision of team services, and workforce protection, and noted various approaches for mobilizing additional workforce capabilities in the field of animal health during emergencies.
Tigran Petrosyan, Head of the Food Safety Inspection Body, expressed his gratitude for conducting the workshop with great efficiency and in an atmosphere of open dialogue, emphasizing that the discussions over these days covered not only professional issues, but also highly valuable experience and ideas were shared, which will serve as a basis for future cooperation.
It should be recalled that the workshop was organized through the joint efforts of the WOAH and the Inspection Body, with participation from the country's state administration (Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Health, Ministries of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Bureau for Coordination of Work of Inspection Bodies, FSIB), scientific (Scientific Center for Risk Assessment and Analysis in the Field of Food Safety), educational (Armenian National Agrarian and State Economic Universities) sectors, as well as international and public (UN Food and Agriculture Organization's office in Armenia (FAO/WEP), National Association of Veterinarians NGO, Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development Foundation (CARD), Strategic Development Agency NGO) representatives.
